Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 8, 2026

1. Introduction

Auteur (us.useauteur.com) helps Canadian founders set up U.S. business entities. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the rights you have under Canadian privacy law — including the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the substantially-similar laws of Quebec, British Columbia, and Alberta.

2. Who we are

Auteur (the “Company”) operates this website. For any privacy-related question, contact hello@useauteur.com.

3. Information we collect

You give us through the consultation form:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • An optional message describing your business

Collected automatically:

  • Google Analytics 4: page views, device type, approximate region (IP-based, with IP truncation enabled)
  • Standard server logs (IP address, user agent) for security and abuse prevention, kept for 30 days or less

What we do not collect: payment information, government identifiers (SSN, SIN), or corporate documents. Those would only be collected after a paid engagement begins, and this website is not at that stage.

4. How we use your information

  • To reply to your consultation request
  • To follow up on the same business inquiry within 12 months
  • To send a quote or proposal, only when you have asked for one
  • To improve the website using aggregate analytics

We do not sell your data, share it for third-party marketing, or use it for automated decision-making.

5. How we share your information (cross-border transfers)

To run this website and respond to inquiries, we use the following service providers. Data may be stored or processed in the United States.

  • Google LLC (United States) — Workspace email, Google Sheets, and Google Apps Script. Used to receive and store consultation submissions.
  • Vercel Inc. (United States) — website hosting.
  • Google Analytics (United States) — anonymized traffic analytics with IP truncation.

We do not share data with any other third party. Cross-border transfers are protected by the providers’ own privacy commitments and standard contractual clauses.

6. Retention

  • Consultation submissions: 24 months from the last contact, then deleted.
  • Google Analytics data: 14 months (Google’s default).
  • Server logs: 30 days or less.

7. Your rights

Under PIPEDA and provincial law, you may:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Ask us to delete your record
  • Withdraw consent and stop us from contacting you
  • If you are a Quebec resident, also request data portability under Law 25

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@useauteur.com with your name and the email address you used. We respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

  • Essential cookies (no consent banner needed): session and locale preference (NEXT_LOCALE).
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization. Opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout or in your browser settings.

We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

9. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at hello@useauteur.com. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca. If your province has its own privacy authority, the OPC can direct you to the correct office.

10. Changes to this policy

Material updates will be posted on this page and the “Last updated” date will change. We do not email a notice for minor wording changes. Continued use of the website after an update means you accept the revised policy.
